About Our Life Science Classes

Welcome to the 7th Grade Life Science program!

Our classes are part of a Middle School Team called team "A".

Each group has a "block period" (80 minutes) scheduled weekly. This will most often be used for an indoor lab activity but occasionally will involve outdoor science settings as well.

We are using the Glencoe Life Science series for our text and we are scheduled to cover the following areas during the year:

  • Scientific Inquiry and the Scientific Method
  • The Structure of Cells
  • Cell Processes
  • Cell Reproduction
  • Heredity
  • Evolution
  • Classifying Living Things
  • Protists and Fungi
  • Introduction to Animals
  • Mollusks, Worms, Arthropods and Echinoderms
  • Fish, Amphibians, and Reptiles
  • Birds and Mammals
  • Animal Behavior
  • Life and the Environment
  • Ecosystems
  • Resources and the Environment

Incorporating educational technologies wherever possible is a goal for this year's Science program. My philosophy is that existing and emerging technologies are powerful and effective tools for educational excellence when used with meaningful and educationally sound inquiry based programs. This web site will be the foundation of our technology use. We hope that you come here often to visit and spend time with our science projects.

Please use our Message Board or email us if you have comments or suggestions. Thanks!
